Keeping Pompton Lakes Clean to Protect Local Waterways

The Pompton Lakes Environmental Protection Committee (EPC) recently held their annual cleanup where volunteers come together to remove debris, clear water pathways, and ensure that stormwater flows freely. In previous years, volunteers have tackled everything from garbage and branches to large items like tires—even a toilet bowl!

This community-driven effort helps address the town’s flood-prone landscape, maintaining the balance of local wildlife habitats and conservation areas, while reducing flood risks.

MS&B’s own Bernadette Chillemi is a dedicated member of the EPC, working alongside fellow volunteers to keep Pompton Lakes clean, safe, and thriving.

Making an impact is kind of Bernadette’s thing! In addition to her work with the EPC, she serves on multiple local committees in Pompton Lakes, including the Women’s Club, the Recreation Commission, the Pompton Day Planning Committee, and the Elks Lodge #1895.
