MS&B is Working with the Borough of Belmar on Affordable Housing
In his role as redevelopment attorney for Belmar, NJ, Joseph Baumann of MS&B is helping the Borough stay “in the driver’s seat” on decisions regarding affordable housing.
NJ’s Fair Housing Act requires that 20% of units must fit affordable housing standards for all state-assisted development projects. At a recent city council meeting, Baumann explained how Belmar plans to protect itself from a lawsuit that would have allowed builders to override municipal authorities on affordable housing placement.
The MS&B team is also helping hold developers to account in cases where past municipal government administrations failed to follow proper procedures for granting them long-term tax abatement approvals on projects.
