Biography

J. Nicholas Strasser’s practice focuses on Land Use, Development, Redevelopment and Commercial/Transactional Real Estate.  He represents both private clients and governmental entities in virtually all aspects of these areas from providing initial counseling through acquisition, acquiring land use and regulatory approvals and litigation.

Nick comes to MSB following three and half years as the First Assistant Corporation Counsel in Jersey City.  In that role, he served as the principal deputy for the Corporation Counsel, handling the day-to-day management of the Law Department.  He regularly served as the Law Department’s representative at City Council public meetings, as well as the Law Department’s liaison with other entities both within and outside the City organization related to operational and legal matters. Nick also served as the City’s principal representative in longstanding chromium litigation under the jurisdiction of court-appointed administrators.

Prior to his time with the City of Jersey City, Nick was civil litigator with a Hudson County firm representing insurance companies and their insureds in tort-based liability actions.  He also served as an assistant prosecutor in the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.

Following his graduation from law school, Nick joined the Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps.  Captain Strasser served with the 1st Cavalry Division from April 2005 to January 2008, deploying to Iraq as the trial counsel and international law attorney for the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade from October 2006 to December 2007.   From January 2008 to June 2009, Nick was assigned to the United States Military Academy at West Point, serving first as an administrative law attorney and then as the legal advisor to the Commandant.
