Biography

Nylema Nabbie concentrates her practice in municipal law, specifically in the areas of land use, redevelopment and litigation related thereto.

Nylema has extensive land use experience and has served as counsel to a number of land use boards in Bergen County and Hudson County and as counsel to developers throughout the State on local, county and state levels. She has substantial experience in complex commercial litigation, construction defect and the prosecution and defense of actions in lieu of prerogative writs. Nylema also currently serves as municipal counsel to the Township of Cedar Grove. She has substantial tax appeal experience defending various municipalities, as well as a published decision regarding the Non-Residential Development Fee. Nylema has represented financial institutions and private individuals on commercial, construction and residential loan transactions.  At the inception of her career, Nylema earned experience in representing condominium associations.

Nylema represents the Hoboken Planning Board, the Hoboken Zoning Board of Adjustment and the Teaneck Planning Board.  She served as municipal counsel to the Township of Cedar Grove.  Nylema also served as the Hillsdale Planning Board attorney from February 2014 to 2024; as co-counsel to the North Bergen Planning Board from 2009 to 2024; counsel to the West New York Zoning Board of Adjustment Attorney from November 2017 to present; current counsel to the Hoboken Zoning Board of Adjustment; co-counsel to the Closter Zoning Board of Adjustment from 1996 to 1999. Nylema was a member of the Teaneck Planning Board from approximately 1999 to 2004 and Chairperson of the Teaneck Planning Board from approximately 2001 to 2004. She served as Director of the New Jersey State Bar Association, Land Use Section - 2009 to 2016.

Nylema is an adjunct professor at Seton Hall Law School, where she earned her J.D.
