First Ever Bond Issuance Under New Jersey's Community Hazard Assistance Mitigation Program (NJ CHAMP)

We’re proud to share the work of John V. Cavaliere and Christopher Langhart, who served as bond counsel to the Bergen County Utilities Authority for the first-ever bond issuance under New Jersey’s Community Hazard Assistance Mitigation Program (NJ CHAMP).

This $1.61 million bond, paired with a $4.56 million FEMA Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) grant, will fund a critical flood mitigation project at the Joint Meeting Pump Station in Rutherford, New Jersey.

Thanks to programs like CHAMP, powered by the FEMA Safeguarding Tomorrow Revolving Loan Fund (STORM) Act, New Jersey communities can fund much-needed climate resiliency projects—and we’re excited to see it in action.
