Our Services

Clean Energy and Energy Efficiency. We have extensive experience in the procurement and structured financing of clean energy and energy efficiency projects, and have spearheaded legislation allowing governments and businesses to make their facilities more energy efficient and energy resilient. The firm has been involved in a wide range of projects such as:

  • Develop renewable and alternative energy projects including solar panels, wind turbines, hydropower, geothermal and co-generation facilities
  • Review and maximize financial incentives, such as federal tax credits, rebates, and renewable energy certificates (SRECs); counsel clients on the State’s current incentives and clean energy policies
  • Provide counsel and analysis for expansion into new renewable energy and clean- tech markets including micro-grids, battery storage, electric vehicles and EV charging infrastructure
  • Review and counsel clients in all aspects of project procurement and implementation, including coordination with renewable energy developers, utilities and operators

Smart-Cities. The firm also supports governments and businesses with rapidly evolving smart-city technologies including:

  • Counsel and assessment on a range of emerging issues such as the integration of distributed energy technologies with smart-city (connected) technologies also known as IOT (internet of things)
  • Procurement and development of 5G (fifth generation cellular network technology) infrastructure and review of issues such as underground conduits, cellular antennas and usage
  • Review privacy/cybersecurity issues related to integration of smart-city technologies Prepare clients for changing consumer preferences for electric vehicles and use of semi-autonomous and autonomous vehicles, and impacts these will have to their roads and others infrastructure (including impacts on the electrical grids) and facilities

Climate Adaptation and Resiliency. The firm regularly provides counsel on climate change solutions and preparedness, proactive resiliency measures and adaption investments, and assists with spearheading legislation on new legislation/reforms needed to prepare New Jersey for changing climate conditions.

Green Buildings. Our attorneys have extensive experience with green building design (including LEED Certification), brownfield redevelopment, green infrastructure, environmental financing and storm-water management solutions. We assist clients with valuation and planning that helps clients consider climate adaptation and redevelopment issues such as:

  • Impacts of rain or flood on specific facilities/elevations
  • Location and loss of primary and backup powers; “islanded” power solutions
  • Emergency preparedness and resiliency measures such as bulkhead construction, retaining walls, road elevations and green infrastructure development
  • Public finance, green bonds and NJEIT loan financing, grant funding, state or federal tax incentives, public-private partnerships and other project finance options
