Biography

Edward J. McManimon, III, a Founding Partner of McManimon, Scotland & Baumann, LLC, had a distinguished career. He was instrumental in developing the Firm’s substantial public finance practice into a redevelopment, privatization and other complex structured public and private finance practice.  The result of Ed’s work can be seen in every aspect of life in New Jersey from new schools and infrastructure projects, to revitalization of its towns. Ed’s advice was sought from all levels of government.

Ed was involved in various professional and bar association activities, as well as community and political activities. He was honored by the New Jersey Law Journal as one of the recipients of its Inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award and by the New Jersey League of Municipalities with the "Distinguished Public Service Award". He served as Chairman of the Local Government Law Section of the New Jersey Bar Association and was a member of the Institute of Municipal Attorneys. Ed also served as special counsel to the League of Municipalities in connection with public finance and redevelopment matters. He had been a frequent lecturer on the law of municipal finance on behalf of the New Jersey League of Municipalities, the New Jersey Authorities Association, the New Jersey Government Finance Officers Association, the Association of County Finance Officers, the New Jersey Association of Counties, the New Jersey Clerks Association, the New Jersey Institute for Professional Development, and the Rutgers University Municipal Financial Management Course. Moreover, Ed served as a personal mentor to almost every lawyer in New Jersey practicing in these areas by eagerly offering his time and talent to confer with lawyers throughout the state about how best to serve their clients.  Few attorneys have done as much to advance a field of law or increase practitioners’ profiles within that field.

Ed received his undergraduate degree in government from Georgetown University and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.  He served on the Board of Governors of the Georgetown Alumni Association and was the recipient of the John Carroll Award and the William Gaston Award, the two highest alumni awards of Georgetown University.
