Biography
Anthony Sodono, III, is a member of the Firm's Diversity & Inclusion Committee and Chair of our Bankruptcy Practice Group. He concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate restructuring, bankruptcy and debtor/creditor rights, and commercial litigation. In particular, he represents debtors and Chapter 11 and 7 trustees. He serves as assignee under deeds of assignment for the benefit of creditors and has represented federal and state court receivers and fiscal agents. Anthony served as Liquidating Receiver for the Federal Trade Commission. Anthony is also a Bankruptcy Court Mediator and previously served as a certified foreclosure mediator. Anthony is admitted to practice law in the States of New Jersey and New York and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as well as the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, United States Tax Court, United States District Court, District of New Jersey, and Supreme Court of New Jersey.
Anthony was a former Assistant United States Trustee for the United States Department of Justice. The Office of the United States Trustee is the governmental arm that oversees the federal bankruptcy system. As Assistant United States Trustee, Anthony supervised every large Chapter 11 case for the State of New Jersey from 1999 through 2006. Anthony also served as an Internal Revenue Service Agent.
From 1992 through 1999, Anthony was engaged in private practice with the law firm of Cole, Schotz, Meisel, Forman and Leonard, P.A. He concentrated his practice in the areas of corporate reorganizations, debtor/creditor rights, bankruptcy, and commercial litigation and represented Chapter 11 and 7 trustees, debtors, landlords, creditors’ committees, lenders, and receivers.
In 1990-91, Anthony served as the judicial law clerk to the Honorable Daniel J. Moore, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the District of New Jersey.
Anthony also served as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps.
Anthony is a frequent lecturer for the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education and for the Bankruptcy Law Foundation’s Financial Literacy Project; also, he is a contributing author of the ICLE Bankruptcy Skills Series Textbook and the New Jersey Bankruptcy Manual, for which he wrote the chapter relating to the United States Department of Justice, Office of the United States Trustee.
In 2013, Anthony was appointed by Chief Justice Stuart Rabner to serve for the Office of Attorney Ethics, State of New Jersey, Newark District.
Anthony was named Pro Bono Attorney of the Year by Volunteer Lawyers for Justice.

Anthony received his B.S. degree in Accounting, cum laude, from Kean University in 1985 and his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law, Newark, New Jersey, in 1990.
