Biography
William P. Opel concentrates his practice in litigation, general counsel and redevelopment matters. As a member of the Firm’s litigation practice group, he has been involved in matters pertaining to prerogative writ challenges, litigation related to real estate and redevelopment projects, construction contract disputes, corporate shareholder disputes, environmental claims and commercial litigation involving both public and private entities. As general counsel to the City of Lambertville and the City of Perth Amboy, Bill is managing litigation, redevelopment, employement issues and general municipal matters. Through his experience in municipal government, Bill is able to advise clients on complex redevelopment projects.
Prior to joining the firm, he served as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Bayonne, where he focused his attention on various aspects of municipal law. In addition, he served as Municipal Prosecutor and as Counsel to the Alcoholic Beverage Commission and the Bayonne Historic Preservation Commission.
William received his J.D. from Widener University School of Law in 2011 and his B.A. in English from The College of New Jersey in 2007.
