Biography
Malcolm X. Thorpe, Esq. has a diverse practice that focuses on litigation, land use and real estate matters including condemnation and affordable housing transactions. Malcolm is a skilled advocate and problem solver who represents individuals, government and businesses entities. Malcolm has substantial experience in all aspects of litigation and has experience litigating matters concerning a variety of complex subject matters. Malcolm applies his diverse litigation experience to assist stake holders in navigating transactional risks and is a trusted advisor in real estate transactions.
Prior to joining the firm, Malcolm was an Associate at an insurance defense firm in New York and New Jersey where he handled cases from inception through trial in both states. Malcolm also worked as a Claims Analyst for a large international insurance corporation where he oversaw claims for civil litigation matters involving professional and employment practice liability. These experiences have made Malcolm a zealous advocate with a unique perspective on how to develop sensible strategies that meets clients’ needs.
Malcolm is a first-generation college graduate and graduate of Rutgers University School of Law where he was an editor for Rutgers Business Law Review and a Civil Justice Clinic Advocate.

Strengthening Affordable Housing Through Strategic Partnership in Plainfield

The Housing Authority of Plainfield has formalized a partnership with WinnDevelopment Company to preserve 353 affordable housing units across two residential communities.
Driving Community Investment in Passaic Through a Major Redevelopment Partnership
MS&B Member Bakari G. Lee and Partner Malcolm X. Thorpe recently led the finalization of a comprehensive redevelopment agreement for the Housing Authority of the City of Passaic, working in partnership with L+M State Street Associates LLC and the Passaic Redevelopment Agency. This tri‑party agreement sets in motion a transformative plan to deliver more than 350 new and rehabilitated housing units at the Alfred Speer Village site.
